SPA at the World Championships

St. Petersburg Aquatics swimmers Melanie Margalis and Robert Finke were recently named to the national team roster for the 2017 FINA World Championships, July 14–30 in Budapest, Hungary. Melanie, 25, is a Countryside High School graduate who went on to help the University of Georgia Bulldogs win the NCAA Division I women’s team title in 2013 and again in 2014. AT the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia, she won gold in the 4×200-meter freestyle relay as a member of the preliminary team and bronze in the 200-meter individual medley. She won a gold medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with the U.S. women’s 4×200 freestyle relay team.

Robert, 17, is a member of the National Junior Team and recently competed at the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships in Indianapolis.

Melanie will swim the 200-meter individual medley and the 800-meter freestyle relay; Robert will swim the 1500-meter freestyle.
