SPA sends 31 swimmers to Florida Swimming Senior Championships

Florida Swimming logoA total of 31 SPA athletes competed recently in the Florida Swimming Short Course Senior Championships in Orlando, Florida. Representing SPA were:

Hannah Brockman, Shay Cassady, Taylor Emerson, Summer Finke, Julia Finster, Ana Forrister, Laurynn Harvard, Sophia Harvard, Lindsey Leadbetter, Peyton Palsha, Madison Pyhel, Alexandra Walker, Taylor Williams, Joseph Brockman, Lukas Cote, Pablo Coundouriotis, Robert Finke, Joseph Gonzalez, Magellan Grant, Colton Gray, Tyre Hill, Justin Irvin, Caleb Kravitz, Gordon Leadbetter, Gray Maloney, Joshua McQueen, Nicholas Metro, Connell Murch, Eli Rust, Grant Sanders, and Will Smith.

The meet is divided into a 14–16 age division and an Open division that has no age restrictions. Over 950 athletes in total competed. SPA finished seventh in the total team competition and had several top 16/24 finishes. The Open division returned A, B, and C (only 18-and-under) finals with top 16 scoring, while the 14–16 age division returned an A and B final with both finals scoring. SPA swimmer Robert Finke won the High Point award in the male Open division.

Top finishes included:

  • Shay Cassady, Open division, 20th place in the 50-yard freestyle, 20th place in the 200-yard freestyle, 24th place in the 100-yard backstroke.
  • Taylor Emerson, 14–16 age division, eleventh place in the 50-yard butterfly.
  • Summer Finke, Open division, first in the 500-yard freestyle, first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle, first place in the 1,650-yard freestyle, fifth place in the 200-yard breaststroke, third place in the 400-yard individual medley.
  • Ana Forrister, 14–16 age division, 16th place in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 16th place in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
  • Laurynn Harvard, Open division, 13th place in the 50-yard freestyle, second place in the 50-yard breaststroke, second place in the 100-yard breaststroke, fourth place in the 200-yard breaststroke, 10th place in the 200-yard individual medley.
  • Lindsey Leadbetter, Open division, fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle, sixth place in the 50-yard backstroke, 17th place in the 100-yard backstroke, seventh place in the 200-yard backstroke, sixth place in the 50-yard butterfly.
  • Peyton Palsha, Open division, third place in the 200-yard freestyle, second place in the 500-yard freestyle, second place in the 1,650-yard freestyle, second place in the 200-yard breaststroke, third place in the 200-yard individual medley.
  • Madison Pyhel, 14–16 age division, ninth place in the 50-yard butterfly, 15th place in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • Lukas Cote, 14–16 age division, fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle, fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle, fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke, first place in the 200-yard backstroke, 16th place in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Pablo Coundouriotis, 14–16 age group, sixth place in the 50-yard backstroke, 15th place in the 200-yard individual medley.
  • Robert Finke, Open division, first place in the 500-yard freestyle, first place in the 1,000-yard freestyle, first place in the 1,650-yard freestyle, fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle, second place in the 200-yard butterfly, second place in the 400-yard individual medley.

  • Magellan Grant, 14–16 age division, fourth place in the 50-yard backstroke, eleventh place in the 100-yard backstroke, ninth place in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Colton Gray, Open division, 12th place in the 100-yard freestyle, 18th place in the 100-yard backstroke, 18th place in the 200-yard backstroke.
  • Caleb Kravitz, Open division, 20th place in the 200-yard backstroke, 15th place in the 200-yard butterfly, 20th place in the 400-yard individual medley.
  • Connell Murch, Open division, 21st place in the 50-yard butterfly.
  • Grant Sanders, Open division, first place in the 100-yard freestyle, first place in the 200-yard freestyle, second place in the 500-yard freestyle, first place in the 200-yard backstroke, first place in the 400-yard individual medley.
